As the sunlight in the Martian arctic wanes, Phoenix is drawing less and less power, and mission managers have begun to gradually shut down its systems. This week, ground controllers lost contact with the lander, but they’re still hopeful they’ll reconnect and that the mission can still conduct science for a few more weeks.
