    What are the two smooth blue areas? Since one is translucent, I am guessing fog rather than sand…

    It’s actually all sand. I can see why you’re calling it translucent, but it’s really just a dusting of sand on the rock.

    Aah, it looked so much deeper than that. But I often find astronomical graphics to be optical delusions for some reason…
