First Indian Moon Mission Launched

India has successfully launched its first space mission beyond Earth orbit today. The Chandrayaan-1 orbiter will map the lunar surface with X-rays, RADAR and other methods, using instruments that came from all around the world. The mission is one part of the Indian space agency’s long-term program to develop space-based communication, meteorological services, and remote sensing systems for resources monitoring.
